The Institute of Physics of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) has been working on theoretical physics for 75 years. Since its foundation in 1928, many famous scientists and researchers, such as Academician. Yinyuan Li, Academician. Yuanben Dai, Academician. Bolin He, Academician. Fucho Pu, Academician. Jiaming Li, Academician. Yuping Huo, Academician. Shidong Cai, Academician. Guozhen Yang, Academician. Lu Yu, Academician. Shigang Chen, Academician. Dingsheng Wang and so on, have worked here and got great achievements. During its 75 years history it has won many honors and awards which include Kastker Award of International Theoretical Physics Center (ICTP) for one time, First Class Prize of National Science Conference for one time, Third Class Prize of National Natural Science Award for four times, Third Class Prize of National Sci&Tech Advancement Award for twice , First Class Prize of National Science and Technology Development Award of CAS for four times and Natural Science Prize of CAS for twice.

　There are two groups of the CMTMC, group one, which led by Prof. Yupeng Wang, mainly engages in the many-body theory, statistical physics, nonlinear science, atomic and molecular physics, mathematical physics. Group two, which led by Prof. Banggui Liu, focuses on computational physics and materials physics. The main members are young scientists; two of them supported by One Hundred Talent Program, two supported by Scientific Fund for National Outstanding Youth, and two got the “Qiu-Shi” Prize for Young Scholars.
