Tensor Network States: Algorithms and Applications (TNSAA2014)

 

The Tensor Network States: Algorithms and Applications International Workshop was successfully held on December 1-5, 2014, at Institute of Physics (IOP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This workshop was co-sponsored by Key Laboratory of Condensed Matter Theory and Computation of IOP, Department of Physics and Astronomy Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Collaborative Innovation Center of Advanced Microstructures in Nanjing University.

 

In recent years, tensor renormalization group has been proved to be an accurate and effective method for solving quantum many-body problems. This method is also a new many-body calculation method developed following the well-known Wilson renormalization group, and the density matrix renormalization group. Till now it has been used to explore and solve some important issues in the fields of strong correlation quantum physics and statistical physics. In this workshop, there are 19 academic progress reports arranged, 3 talks for beginners and 4 lectures for using related program libraries. Topics include the basic theory of tensor renormalization group, the coding process of involved computational methods, and relevant software problems. Therefore it is believed that this workshop is beneficial to promoting the development of this research area.

 

This workshop was co-organized by Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tao Xiang, Professor Wang Xiaoqun of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Guifre Vidal of Perimeter Institute in Canada, Professor Ying-Jer Kao of National Taiwan University, and Professor Tomotoshi Nishino of Kobe University in Japan. This workshop has invited about 30 speakers from US, Germany, Canada, Japan, Australia and other domestic cities in China. These scholars are coming from many different majors, such as, Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Information, Atomic and Molecular Quantum Chemistry and so on.
