After careful deliberation, the laboratory of condensed matter theory and materials calculation was established, and the theory room, which has been disbanded for more than 30 years, was rebuilt. This is a historic moment to remember. Since the beginning of this year, the theory room has been developing at an amazing speed, especially since it entered the knowledge innovation pilot project base of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In line with the founding principle of "openness, mobility, competition and cooperation", it has actively carried out exchanges with international theoretical physics centers, attracted many excellent theoretical physics talents to join this group, and made great efforts to create outstanding young people who surpass the previous generation A team of theoretical physics research talents. In 2001, the theory room started with two research groups and four researchers (Wang Yupeng, Wang Dingsheng, Liu banggui, Li bozang), and this team has been expanding.

2001-2006

By 2006, more than overseas returnees joined the theoretical research team, and the research group developed into three groups

At the beginning of 2011, there were 22 researchers and 74 students in the theory room, including Yu Lu and Wang Dingsheng. The director is researcher Xiang Tao. Five researchers have won the national fund for Distinguished Youth (Wang Yupeng, Liu Wuming, Fang Zhong, sun Qingfeng and Xiang Tao).
